Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:

  1. Civil rights and community activist Carl Westmoreland died in Cincinnati on Thursday at the age of 85. Westmoreland dedicated his life to fighting for Black homeownership and the preservation of Black history. He is survived by his sons Guy and Carl Westmoreland II. (The Cincinnati Enquirer)
  2. Cincinnati native John Sheldon has been named Big Brother of the Year by the Big Brothers Big Sisters Ohio State Association. Sheldon and his little brother Trey will be honored in a ceremony at Ohio's Capital Building in Columbus. The brother duo will now be entered into the running for National Big and Little of the Year.   3. Cincinnati entrepreneur Rico Grant has formed a $1.5 million fund dedicated to supporting Black small business owners. The fund named Fundnoire is meant to support the next wave of Black entrepreneurs coming to Cincinnati. Grant is the owner of Gallery At Gumbo, a founder of Paloozanoire, and the executive director of SoCap. (The Business Journals)
