Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:

  1. The Cincinnati Animal CARE is in desperate need of dog food. The shelter could run out of dog food for about 200 dogs by today, Jul. 18, due to shipping and shelter capacity problems. Anybody interested in donating to the shelter can drop off dog food at the shelter on 3949 Colerain Ave. or order it on the shelter's Amazon wish list. (FOX19)
  2. Cincinnati Works Phoenix Program hosted an event in Westwood to build community bonds and end violence. On Friday, the Phoenix Program hosted a cookout at the Ravenwood Apartments to start a conversation among neighbors about stopping the violence. The program will next be holding a job and resource event at Washington Park on Jul. 28 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (FOX19)
  3. Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Walnut Hills on Sunday. At around 3:00 a.m., police were called to the scene on Gilbert Avenue near Windsor Street where they say the victim died at the scene. According to investigators, they might be able to identify the vehicle involved, however, they have not released any further information. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
