On Wednesday, November 13, more than 3,200 Cincinnati Public Schools' (CPS) elementary students will put their math skills into action and learn the fundamentals of finance from business volunteers as part of the 20th Annual Accounting For Kids Day.

Accounting for Kids (AFK) Day teaches children how to make smart financial decisions so they can become savvy consumers and the business leaders of the future. More than 600 business and financial professionals in Cincinnati will bring real-world investing and savings concepts to life for students in grades 4-6.

"As we celebrate the 20th Accounting for Kids Day, we continue to build on the previous 19 annual events which have brought together approximately 9,800 volunteers, serving approximately 40,500 students in 1,475 classrooms in Greater Cincinnati," said Crystal Faulkner, a partner at Cooney, Faulkner & Stevens, LLC, the founders of AFK Day.

"I am so pleased that CPS has been associated with the Accounting for Kids program for the last 20 years, bringing business professionals into our classrooms to introduce economic fundamentals to children in a fun and engaging way," said Superintendent Laura Mitchell.

The event's goal is to teach students "concepts that can be used to manage their personal finances or a future business — financial lessons for life," Faulkner said.

With the continued support of Huntington Bank, alliantgroup, Paycor and numerous other sponsors, the 20th AFK Day™ will have approximately 600 volunteers in 129 classrooms at 18 schools throughout Greater Cincinnati. "AFK Day™ continues to grow because of the sponsors and volunteers who care enough to have an impact on the lives of children involved," Faulkner added.
