Following the established protocols for staff, such as wearing masks, social distancing, and regularly washing hands and using hand sanitizer, are important safeguards for these situations.

Protocols for handling physical materials, training, and cleaning during COVID-19 follow scientific testing led by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Battelle (a nonprofit applied science and technology group in Columbus, Ohio), and the Online Computer Library Center.

These actions are being taken out of an abundance of caution.
