From August 26 through September 23, students may pick up Five-Day Remote Meal Packs at their schools every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. Each meal pack contains five lunches and five breakfasts.

Meal pick-up stations are located in the schools' bus lanes. Students may walk up to receive meal packs, too. Walkers should use school sidewalks to stay safe.

To help prevent the spread of germs, it is important to stay 6 feet apart from others and to wash hands often, including prior to leaving home to pick up meals, when returning home and before eating.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires that meals be given only to CPS-enrolled students. Parents/guardians may pick-up meals without children there, but CPS staff will request proof that the children are enrolled in CPS:

  • The Remote Meal Pack flier sent to all families, which can be used as official school documentation. Displaying the flier will speed up meal pick up.
  • Student ID
  • Report card
  • Other official school records with child's name printed on it

Students enrolled at CPS' Community Eligibility Schools will receive free meals.

Students who are enrolled in all other CPS schools and who are paid-meal eligibility status will be charged, according to USDA regulations:

  • $8.75 for an elementary school meal pack
  • $10.00 for a secondary school meal pack

We encourage all families to complete the 2020–21 school year meal eligibility form online or on the app for SchoolCafe.com.

Since school buildings shutdown in March 2020 due to COVID-19, CPS' Student Dining Services Department has distributed more than 300,000 grab-and-go meals to families.
