Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:
- Cincinnati raised the hourly rate for school crossing guards to $15 per hour. The raise came after a year in which nearly a third of crossing guard positions went unfilled, said a city spokesperson. Previously crossing guards earned $11 per hour. (FOX19)
- Two people were hospitalized after being poisoned by carbon monoxide, said the
Cincinnati Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to an under-construction home in the 2000 block of Misty Oak Lane on Monday where they found one person "down" and another acting confused. The presence of carbon monoxide was quickly recognized and a test of the house showed "extremely high" readings on all floors of the home. (WLWT Cincinnati) - Duke Energy is raising its electricity rates 16 percent for Ohioans across the board beginning Jun. 1. Cincinnati interim City Manager John Curp said price increases in the coal and natural gas industries have caused many of Ohio's investor-owned utilities to increase their standard service offers (SSO). Curp's office estimated that the 16 percent increase will lead to an increase of $8.80 per month for the average customer, or $105 per year. (FOX19)
