- Cincinnati police have charged a man in a fatal hit-and-run on Saturday night. According to authorities, 24-year-old Deanshe Kelley was driving downtown on East 5th Street when her vehicle was struck by that of 36-year-old Shalom Jones, who fled the scene but turned himself in the following day. Yahdea Brown, who was in the front seat of the struck vehicle, succumbed to her injuries at UC Medical Center. Both Kelley and a teen passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
- Mayor Aftab Pureval has declared May as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month here in Cincinnati. The proclamation coincided with the city's annual Asian Food Fest, which ran over the weekend at Court Street Plaza. As per a release, AAPI Heritage Month will recognize the past and present contributions and accomplishments of the AAPI community. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
- Last week, Dr. O'dell Owens received the Clara Barton Award for Humanitarian Service from the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter of the American Red Cross. Owens was recognized for his ongoing commitment to educational advocacy, activism for the underserved, and the community at large. The inaugural award, named after the founder of the Red Cross, will be given each year to a deserving Tri-State community leader. (The Cincinnati Herald)
