Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:

  1. Cincinnati Children's Hospital is providing free COVID-19 booster shots to eligible kids ages 12 and older, and to some children who are immunocompromised ages five to 11. Nationwide, more than 600 children a day over one week have been hospitalized due to the virus, a record number. According to Dr. Patty Manning, the chief of staff at Cincinnati Children's, the "numbers of hospitalized children with COVID have quadrupled in the past week from the previous low double digits."   2. Cincinnati Police have arrested a suspect in a Jan. 2 shooting, which marked the city's second homicide of 2022. Jalen Shepard, 19, was found by police shot inside a car on Beecher Street near Gilbert in Walnut Hills just before 4 p.m. 27-year-old Jermel Spencer has been charged with murder.   3. Two Cincinnati restaurants have made the list for "Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2021" by OpenTable. The two restaurants, Pepp & Dolores in Over-the-Rhine and Sotto in the Central Business District, were the only two restaurants in Ohio to make the list. The two Italian restaurants won "Best Overall in Cincinnati/Dayton," according to OpenTable's list. (WXIX)
