🌱 Hanger Honored With Earth Day Award + Green City Plan To Be Updated

Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. Sustainable agriculture student Amanda Hanger was awarded Cincinnati's annual student Earth Day Award. She will be honored at the 2022 Earth Day Festival today at Summit Park for her work with regenerative agriculture. "I was surprised when I even got nominated," said Hanger. (Spectrum News 1)
  2. Groundwork Ohio River Valley, a Cincinnati-based environmental justice nonprofit, is working closely with the City in updating its Green Cincinnati Plan. The plan helps city officials consider ecological impacts when making decisions. Michael Forrester, director of the city's Office of Environment and Sustainability, said that Cincinnati may have to get "more ambitious" with its update to the plan. (Spectrum News 1)
  3. On Friday, Cincinnati's planning commission voted against designating the Terrace Plaza Hotel as a historic landmark. The 6-1 vote puts the commission at odds with the city's Historic Conservation Board. The City Council will make the final decision. (The Cincinnati Enquirer)
