🌱 High Temp Christmas Day + 7 Year Old Gives Back

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cincinnati.

Good morning, Cincinnati! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding of this slight pause in our schedule, and I will be back on Monday with the next edition of the Cincinnati Daily! Now, here's everything happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy; breezy with a shower. High: 55 Low: 54.

Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:

  1. A 7-year-old Cincinnati boy opted to forgo Christmas gifts this year and gave to homeless people in the city instead. On Thursday afternoon, 7-year-old Callen dropped off 30 bags to Cincinnati Police Department's District One. Callen, whose father is a dispatcher with the city, decided to forgo Christmas gifts, opting instead to use the money to make bags filled with blankets, toiletries, water, and food to distribute across the city. (WLWT Cincinnati)
  2. After one of the few actual cold days this month, a big warm-up is headed our way for Christmas and likely through the end of 2021. It's a frosty start Thursday morning. By the afternoon, temperatures thaw fast and rise to the mid-to-upper-40s with brisk south breezes under slowly increasing clouds. It will be much milder Thursday night with lows only around 43. (WLWT Cincinnati)
  3. A group of more than 300 local buildings is well ahead of a goal to reduce energy consumption. Cincinnati's 2030 District is a partnership of businesses, developers, and building managers committed to addressing climate change. Their goal was to reduce energy consumption at least 20% by 2020. A new report on data through the end of last year shows an average 30% reduction in energy use. (WVXU)
