Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. A police investigation has been launched after human remains were found in a wooded area in Cincinnati's University Heights neighborhood, said police. The discovery was made around 11:00 a.m. along the 2000 block of West McMicken Avenue. The area in which the remains were found appears to have been once occupied by homeless people, said police. 2. Rasheeda Lawson is facing obstruction of justice charges for lying to the police and helping a driver escape after he crashed into a Cincinnati Police cruiser. The officer was taken to the hospital and suffered a back injury and broken ankle after his cruiser went up a curb and into a small tree, trapping him. Lawson allegedly told police she saw two people run away from the Nissan. (Local 12)
  3. Fire officials stated that a gas explosion and partial building collapse of a home in greater Cincinnati, which injured 63-year-old Gary Kuykendall, may have been intentional. Madeira/Indian Hill Joint Fire District Chief Steve Oughterson said they were dispatched to the home for an odor of natural gas and law enforcement was called for a domestic dispute early Wednesday morning. A 911 caller said, "My husband's in the house and he's been drinking and he threat... he's called my son and I and told us that he cut the main on the gas and that gas in the house and that he's going to blow the house up with him inside it." Are you a Cincinnati resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
