🌱 Missing 14-Year-Old Girl + Limiting Cincinnati Mayor's Power?

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cincinnati.

Good morning, people of Cincinnati! Sean Peek here with a fresh issue of the Cincinnati Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and quite cold. High: 26 Low: 14.

Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. Following a "culture of corruption" in City Hall, the National Civic League has put together a report on Cincinnati's government, including findings and recommendations for reform. Among the recommendations are scaling back the mayor's legislative and administrative powers in order "to return the city's governance to a more professionally-managed system and increase the influence of the legislative body." (WCPO)
  2. The Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) and the FBI are searching for a 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Friday. Adrianna Jane "AJ" Wahl, a student at the School for Creative and Performing Arts downtown, left her home on West McMicken Avenue in Over-the-Rhine and walked toward Clifton; Wahl reportedly left her cell phone at home. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CPD at 513-352-4567. (WLWT Cincinnati)
  3. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 surge, more and more Cincinnati-area schools are opting for temporary virtual instruction. The primary reason for shutdowns has been staff absences, which Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) have been addressing on a school-by-school basis. All CPS schools will remain remote until Monday, Jan. 24 due to these staffing shortages. (WLWT Cincinnati)
