Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- A murder trial was dismissed on Monday after the lead detective found the presumed murder weapon among the evidence after previously stating the gun had never been found. Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor Jeff Heile asked Judge Melba Marsh to delay the trial for four to six weeks so the gun found could be tested. However, Judge Marsh said that she could not justify holding the accused, Delrico Peoples, any longer. (FOX19)
- Jocelyn Lewis, a North College Hill woman, has been accused of leading police on an hour-long chase with her daughter in her vehicle. On Thursday, Lewis was arraigned on charges of fleeing and eluding police, child endangerment, and additional traffic charges. Lewis wouldn't stop her SUV when Springfield Township police attempted to pull her over on Wednesday. Assistant prosecutor David Wood said Lewis ran multiple stop signs and red lights during the chase. (Local 12)
- The Cincinnati Drug Enforcement Agency's Drug Take Back Day will take place at more than two dozen local collection sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Apr. 30. Jason Schumacher, assistant special agent in charge of the DEA's office in Cincinnati, said "one pill can kill". Schumacher hopes that people will be encouraged to bring unused pain pills and other drugs to the collection sites. (WLWT Cincinnati)
