Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- Beginning today, Cincinnati residents can take advantage of Ohio's annual sales tax holiday. School supplies that are $20 or less per item and clothing items that are $75 or less per item qualify for sales tax breaks. The holiday will run all weekend long. The tax break applies to online shopping as well. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
- The father of a Cincinnati Children's Hospital patient has been charged for threatening to shoot security officers. According to a criminal complaint, Billy Lewis threatened to get a gun and shoot security officers while he was at the Liberty Campus of Cincinnati Children's with his daughter on Aug. 2. His bond is set at $2,500 with an order that Lewis can have no weapons on his person. He's set to be back in court on Aug. 10. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- A veteran who is crossing the U.S. on horseback to raise money traveled through Cincinnati yesterday. Matt Perella, a Marine Corps veteran, entered Cincinnati on Thursday morning in hopes to raise money for veterans with PTSD and people in need. Throughout his 4,000-mile journey with his horse, Buck, and dog, Raffe, Perella hopes to raise $10 million for The Righteous Life Rescue Ranch, which will be built in Asheville, North Carolina.
