Here are the top stories today in Cincinnati:

  1. Cincinnati has the worst inequality in Ohio, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Based on the Gini coefficient, a 0 to 1 measure of income inequality where 0 represents perfect equality and 1 represents the highest level of inequality, Cincinnati had a score of 0.541, the highest of any city in Ohio (the statewide Gini score is 0.465). In Cincinnati, the top 20 percent of households by earnings account for nearly 57 percent of all income in the area, while the bottom 20 percent of households account for just 2.2 percent of earnings.   2. Cincinnati police are investigating an overnight stabbing that took place outside a church. A 45-year-old man told police he was standing in front of Old St. Mary's Church on East 13th Street when an unknown suspect stabbed him multiple times about 12:30 a.m., according to police. The man was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for his injuries. (WXIX)
  3. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Westwood Northern Boulevard and taken to a hospital Thursday morning. The incident remains under investigation, police say. (WXIX)
  4. Cincinnati businesses are desperate for labor and offering even more incentives to get new hires on board, including hiring bonuses, paid training, giveaways, and even free tuition. (WLWT Cincinnati)
  5. Cincinnati City Council members unanimously voted this week to make temporary eviction protections permanent under the city's new "Pay to Stay" ordinance. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
