The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cincinnati.
Hi all! I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through all the most important things happening locally. I'll get right to it.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 83 Low: 66.
Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- Cincinnati police arrested 60-year-old Russell Pender on Thursday in connection with three bank robberies, two on the same day. Pender was arrested after police responded to a reported bank robbery at the PNC Bank on Paxton Avenue. Pender was also arrested for a robbery earlier that day at the Fifth Third Bank on Henshaw Avenue. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- Lawyers representing Samson Jackson filed a $1 million lawsuit against Cincinnati Police Officer David Dozier, accusing the officer of tasing Jackson while he was handcuffed in the back of a cruiser in April of 2020. The lawsuit cites that the officer used excessive force and his client was traumatized and has PTSD. Jackson was being transported on a warrant for charges of felonious assault and robbery and the incident was caught on body camera video. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- A Local 12 investigation uncovered a significant pay disparity between white and Black employees in the City of Cincinnati. The city was presented with the findings in April and the disparities have apparently remained unchanged. Local 12 analyzed the list of employees who work for the city, from the highest to the lowest-paid full-time worker. Separating employees by race, the only group paid below the average of $65,700 was Black employees whose average pay is about $57,000 a year, while White employees average more than $70,000 a year.
