Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:
- On Tuesday, Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac informed his staff that he will retire on Mar. 1. Beginning with the department in 1988, Chief Isaac moved through the ranks and was appointed chief in 2015 by former City Manager Harry Black, replacing outgoing Chief Jeffrey Blackwell, whom Black fired. A nationwide search is currently underway to find Isaac's successor. (WXIX)
- While most of the Cincinnati Zoo's little blue penguins are named after foods or drinks, one newly-hatched penguin chick has been named after the Bengals quarterback. According to the Zoo, the penguin chick has been named Cup O' Joe Burrow and will eventually wear orange and black ID bands when it moves to be with the rest of the colony in the spring. Visit the Cincinnati Zoo through Mar. 11 for Penguin Days. (Local12)
- Bon Secours Mercy Health will be hosting a hiring event in an effort to fill 350 positions. On Feb. 19, the single-day event will be held at seven different locations including Mercy Health West Hospital, Anderson Hospital, and Jewish Hospital. Interviews will be conducted throughout the event to fill a wide range of open positions in the area, including cooks, imaging, lab, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, patient access, pharmacy techs, respiratory therapists, registered nurses, care companions, and surgical technologists.
