Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. A Good Friday tradition returned this year to the steps of Cincinnati's Mount Adams neighborhood. Thousands of people came out to the steps of the Holy Cross Immaculata Church to pray over the span of 24 hours. The 150-year-old tradition was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, then held with masks and social distancing protocols in 2021. This year's Praying of the Steps was held without restrictions. 2. A two-hour police standoff in Cincinnati's Over-The-Rhine neighborhood took place on Saturday. The standoff occurred on the corner of Liberty and Sycamore Streets, where police had their guns drawn at an individual sitting in the front seat of a Tesla. The owner of the car, who was reportedly eating inside a nearby restaurant at the time, said he was working with officers to help them obtain entry into the vehicle. No information about the suspect has been released. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
  3. A new professional franchise is coming to Cincinnati — but this time, in the digital realm. The Cincinnati Fear, a new esports team, is currently recruiting competitive gamers to compete under the brand. According to Jackie Reau, CEO of Game Day Communications, esports is currently a billion-dollar industry, and the Cincy group would be just one of a handful of city-based teams. Leaders with Cincinnati Fear want the athletes to attend video gaming tournaments countrywide, win prizes, and raise funds for charity. (FOX19)
