Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval announced the birth of his second son, Rami Whitis Karma Pureval, and the start of his two-week paternity leave. Cincinnati offers six weeks of paid leave to city employees. "Paid leave is so critical for all our families. It's been proven to boost employee morale and retention, improve outcomes for children, and increase gender equity at home and in the workplace," said Pureval. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
  2. A Cincinnati Police Department crime analysis revealed that 30 of Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods have seen more auto thefts in the last four months than each community's average totals for the last three years. Over-the-Rhine saw the highest numbers with auto thefts doubling and thefts from vehicles jumping from eight in 2021 to 49 so far this year. Police said thieves are seizing opportunities, especially going after valuables left in cars. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
  3. The Cincinnati Zoo and Klosterman Baking Company are coming together for the fourth year in a row to host nine plant sales from April to October at Bowyer Farm. The sales are a part of the Zoo's Save Our Bees campaign, a program that promotes native plants to protect bees for pollination and local honey production. Klosterman said it partnered with the zoo to bring awareness to the global decline in honeybees that are critical to growing crops. (CityBeat.com)
