Here are the top stories in Cincinnati today:

1. The Purple People Bridge, which connects Newport to downtown Cincinnati, is finally reopening after being closed for more than 6 months. On May 11, a large stone from a pier fell into the Ohio River; by late summer, the Devou Good Foundation committed $154,000 in repairs. A private ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday morning on the Cincy side of the bridge, followed by a public celebration that evening. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
2. The Cincinnati Police Department is getting money to hire 50 new police officers. The department is set to receive more than $6 million in grants from the Department of Justice. It's part of the DOJ's community-oriented policing services that helps departments add officers to reduce crime and improve community policing. (WKRC TV Cincinnati)
3. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is looking for children to participate in COVID-19 vaccine trials for kids 5 years old and younger. (WCPO)
