Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. The Cincinnati Fire Department swore in 46 new recruits on Monday. The department has had a critical staffing shortage for the past several years due to ongoing issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The department is still down more than 100 firefighters. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
  2. According to the CEO of First Transit, Cincinnati's streetcar system set a new monthly ridership record for the fourth month in a row. The announcement was made through a Wednesday tweet by CEO Brad Thomas. Fares have been free for the streetcar since fall 2020 but ridership is still down 40 percent nationally. (WLWT Cincinnati)
  3. A new study has found Cincinnati as one of the best places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The city has placed 16th place in the WalletHub study that ranked United States cities on key metrics that included Irish population, Irish pubs, and restaurants per capita. There will be cold temperatures this St. Patrick's Day in Cincinnati but the community is excited to celebrate with the parade and pub crawl. (WLWT Cincinnati)
