Two Cincinnati-Area Walmart Supercenters Celebrate 36 Years with Same-Day Re-Grand Openings

MASON, Ohio (June 3, 2026) — Two of Walmart’s longest-standing stores in the Cincinnati market recently marked a major milestone, as the Mason and Eastgate Supercenters celebrated re-grand openings on the very same day— 36 years after they first opened their doors on April 2, 1990.

As the first Walmart locations in the Cincinnati area, both stores have served generations of customers. Now, after full remodels, they are being reintroduced with modern design, enhanced services, and faster, more flexible shopping options for the communities they’ve supported for decades.

The newly remodeled stores feature expanded aisles, interactive displays, and an upgraded assortment that blends everyday value with trending brands. Customers will also find enhanced fresh and healthy food selections, improved Vision Centers, and seamless in-store digital tools through the Walmart app.

A key highlight of the transformation is speed and convenience. Customers can now shop how they want—whether in-store, curbside, or online—with delivery options available in as little as one hour. These improvements reflect Walmart’s continued focus on delivering what customers want, how they want it, and when they want it.

Both celebrations included ribbon-cutting ceremonies, community events, and grant presentations to local organizations—$7,500 in Mason and $10,000 in Eastgate—underscoring Walmart’s ongoing investment in the communities it serves.

The dual re-grand openings are part of a broader effort across the state and country, with 18 remodels planned in Ohio in 2026 and approximately 650 nationwide.
