🌱 Wings And Rings Turns To Robots + Pastor Denied Trial Extension

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cincinnati.

Hi, everybody! I'm back in your inbox this morning with everything you need to know about what's happening in town.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and humid. High: 88 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:

  1. Cincinnati-based restaurant chain Wings and Rings is turning to robots in response to the ongoing labor shortage and "Great Resignation." Miso Robotics of Pasadena, California, which designs robots for the restaurant industry, announced a partnership on Tuesday with Wings and Rings that will bring the tech company's automatic frying robot, Flippy 2, to the chain's Crestview Hills location. The partnership is Miso Robotic's first venture in the Cincinnati area. (The Business Journals)
  2. Cincinnati-born Tony Cottrell, better known as Hi-Tek in music circles, will be one of four artists inducted into the nascent Black Music Walk of Fame on Jul. 23. The Walk of Fame, located on the south side of the Andrew J. Brady Music Center presently under construction, will be a $6 million interactive experience with space to honor up to 200 people. "This is a tourist attraction that will not only bring people from around the county and Cincinnati but from around the state and around the country," said Alicia Reece, a Cincinnati City Council member who is leading the effort to make the Walk of Fame happen. (The Business Journals)
  3. Former Cincinnati City Councilman Jeff Pastor was denied an extension in his federal corruption case. Pastor was ordered by a judge to seek an attorney from the federal public defenders' office. Pastor was indicted in November 2020 on 10 federal counts of bribery, extortion, money laundering, wire fraud, and theft of honest services. (Local 12)
