CLEVELAND — One person was killed and 17 people were wounded during a motorcycle club party on Cleveland's east side on Saturday night. Police said a fight broke out at the party and two groups began shooting at each other.

“The loss of life is a tragedy, no matter the circumstances and I extend my condolences to the victims in this incident,” said Mayor Frank Jackson. “Once again, the easy availability of guns and the disregard for life leads to tragedy. The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating this incident and these perpetrators will be brought to justice.”

At 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to the 3800 block E. 93rd Street for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, there was chaos on the scene, according to a police spokesperson. Officers had to calm the party goers. They then found a 48-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was declared dead on the scene.

Investigators learned that Omens Motorcycle Club was throwing an anniversary party, and members of the Zulus and the Wheels of Soul were also in attendance, police said. A fight then broke out and some of the attendees were thrown out. They returned later and began shooting at the other partiers. Some of the party goers fired back.
