$10,000 Of Meth Found During Northeast Ohio Traffic Stop

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said they found more than 280 grams of meth in a car they stopped for an exhaust problem.

AKRON, OH — More than 280 grams of methamphetamine were seized by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers this month. The department estimates the narcotics are worth more than $10,000.

At 3 p.m. on November 7, troopers stopped a 2005 Chevy Impala in Akron because of a defective exhaust. The car pulled over on South Arlington Street.

When troopers spoke with Jaelin Whitman, 22, the driver, he said he had a meth pipe in the car, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers then searched the Impala and found 288 grams of meth.

Whitman and a passenger in the car, Gregory Swiney, 25, of Dover, were taken to Summit County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine and trafficking in drugs, first degree felonies.

Both men could face up to 22 years in prison and a $40,000 fine, if they're convicted.
