10-Year-Old Is Suspected Shooter Of 1-Year-Old, Cleveland PD Say

A warrant has been issued for the mother of the 10-year-old, a Cleveland police official said.

CLEVELAND — A 10-year-old boy is suspected of shooting and killing a 1-year-old, Cleveland police said on Wednesday afternoon. A warrant has been issued for the mother of the 10-year-old.

Isaiah Martin, 1, was shot and killed on Saturday, police said. Police were called to the 14200 block of Rexwood Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. Callers said there had been a shooting involving a 1-year-old child.

Officers arrived and found Martin. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center after being shot and later died in the hospital. He was from University Heights, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said they were exploring the possibility of an accidental shooting.

Investigators are now revealing that they believe a 10-year-old boy that was inside the home at the time of the shooting may have been the person to pull the trigger. Police have not charged the 10-year-old with any criminal offense, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.

However, a warrant has been issued for the 10-year-old's mother, Brittney Nicole McTier. Police said McTier is being sought on suspicion of obstruction.

The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
