11-Year-Old Killed In Cleveland Has Been Identified

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has named the child that was shot to death on Saturday night.

CLEVELAND — The 11-year-old boy who was shot to death on Saturday night has been identified as Tyshaun Taylor, a Cleveland resident. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said the boy's death is being investigated as a suspected homicide.

On Saturday night, at 9:30 p.m., police were called to E. 97th street for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, Taylor was getting medical treatment from EMS. The boy was taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned the 11-year-old had been in an apartment and carried outside by two juveniles. A resident of the building said she had let her teenage son host a birthday party and then left to go to a nearby store. When she returned, she learned there had been a shooting in the apartment.

The medical examiner announced Taylor's identification on Monday morning.

Police said no arrests have been made in the case. The investigation is ongoing.
