12-Year-Old Girl Shot In Cleveland

Police said the girl was shot in the arm on Thursday.

CLEVELAND — A 12-year-old girl was hurt during a shooting on Cleveland's west side on Thursday.

Callers reported shots being fired at 3:20 a.m. on W. 87th Street and Lake Avenue. Police found two people, a wounded 12-year-old and an unharmed 31-year-old woman, at the scene. Both were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

The 31-year-old was driving her niece, the 12-year-old, and stopped at W. 87th to drop off a friend. When the friend exited the car, gunshots rang out. The 31-year-old sped away, but then discovered her niece had been shot in the arm.

Detectives are investigating the shooting. A Cleveland police spokesperson did not say if there are any suspects yet.
