18-Year-Old Killed In His Cleveland Apartment

Police believe someone knocked on the man's door and shot him when he opened up.

CLEVELAND — An 18-year-old was shot to death in Cleveland Tuesday, police announced.

At 1 a.m., callers reported that a man had been shot multiple times on Maplerow Avenue, on the city's east side. When officers arrived at the man's apartment, they found him wounded and in the kitchen.

Police used first aid kits to help the 18-year-old until EMS arrived and took over his care. The 18-year-old was then pronounced dead in the kitchen.

Investigators believe the 18-year-old was asleep inside his apartment when someone knocked on his door. The 18-year-old answered and was then shot.

The suspect may have drove off in a dark colored SUV, police said. No arrests have yet been made in this case.

Members of the Neighborhood Impact Community Engagement Unit and the Gang Impact Unit are both aiding the investigation, Cleveland police said.
