18-Year-Old Shot After Pointing Gun At East Cleveland Police: PD

An 18-year-old was shot after he pointed a gun at officers, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.

CLEVELAND — An East Cleveland police officer shot a suspect on Friday morning.

At 12:30 a.m., East Cleveland police chased a stolen car into Cleveland. The chase ended on E. 105th Street when multiple people jumped out of the vehicle and ran from officers.

East Cleveland police pursued the suspects. One of the suspects, an 18-year-old, pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers, according to a Cleveland police spokesperson. East Cleveland police shot the 18-year-old.

The 18-year-old was taken to University Hospitals for treatment. A Cleveland police spokesperson said the 18-year-old was shot multiple times. He remains confined at the hospital.

The 18-year-old has been accused of receiving stolen property, failure to comply, and aggravated menacing. He could face additional charges, police said.

Investigators found a gun near where the 18-year-old was shot, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.

The car chase and shooting are still under investigation.
