18-Year-Old Shot To Death In Cleveland Street

Police said the 18-year-old was shot multiple times. He was found on Hopkins Avenue on Cleveland's east side.

CLEVELAND — An 18-year-old was found shot to death on Hopkins Avenue on Tuesday night.

When officers found the 18-year-old, he had been shot multiple times. They gave him first aid until EMS arrived. The 18-year-old was taken to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.

At nearly the same time, police learned of a second wounded person on Thornhill Drive. Investigators discovered this second person — a 19-year-old man — was connected to the Hopkins Avenue shooting.

The 19-year-old had been shot in the back and was taken to University Hospitals. He is now in police custody.

Investigators believe the 18-year-old and the 19-year-old may have been engaged in drug activity, a police spokesperson said. Something went sideways and a fight ensued. Gunfire was exchanged and the 19-year-old tried to drive away.
