3 Members of the Cleveland Police Review Board Announced

Two lawyers and a business owner were appointed by Cleveland City Council to serve on the Cleveland Police Review Board.

CLEVELAND, OH - During Monday's meeting, Cleveland City Council approved three members of the civilian Cleveland Police Review Board. The CPRB will review allegations of misconduct, use of deadly force, and other police issues at the discretion of the director of public safety.

The three members appointed to the board are:

  • Michael P. Hess Jr. Hess fills the seat designated for an 18 to 30 year old. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Law and is currently studying for the bar exam. His term will expire Aug. 8, 2020.
  • Stephanie Scalise is another lawyer. She has her own law practice and specializes in criminal defense and appeals, juvenile and family law. She's also practiced on the other side of the law, serving as assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor and legal counsel to the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services.
  • The third member approved for the board is Michael P. Grahama, the owner of Cleveland-based Strategy Design Partners. That firm works with non-profits, public agencies, and other businesses as a consulting firm on communications. Both Scalise and Graham's terms begin Feb. 7, 2017 and last until Feb. 7, 2021.

Compensation for board members is $7,200 a year.

There are nine members of the CPRD. The mayor has the authority to appoint five board members and city council may appoint four.
