Here are the top stories today in Cleveland:
- Nearly 300 Afghan refugees will be resettled in the Cleveland area, Governor Mike DeWine announced this week. Said Dewine, "These are individuals who have been partners with [the] United States and deserve our support in return for the support they've given us." A total of 855 evacuees will be resettled across the state, primarily in Northeast and Central Ohio. (Cleveland Patch)
- After an hours-long SWAT standoff, a barricaded man was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on Thursday. Cleveland police were called to East 124th and found a woman on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. An armed suspect was tracked to a locked home nearby, after which the SWAT team was called to the scene. (Cleveland Patch)
- A Cleveland Hopkins International Airport worker was assaulted while sitting in her car in the parking lot; the defendant is now being held at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. (Cleveland 19 News)
- The Cleveland Museum of Art announced on Friday it would be implementing a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for employees. (WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland)
- Cleveland Browns linebacker Anthony Walker has been placed on injured reserve as of Friday. (cleveland.com)
