31-Year-Old Woman Killed in Cleveland

The woman was shot in the chest during a gunfire exchange that erupted in her apartment.

CLEVELAND, OH - A 31-year-old Cleveland woman was shot and killed on Cleveland's East Side on Wednesday. The woman was shot in the chest and arm while inside an apartment on East 140th.

Police say that Tionna Young was shot and killed when shooting erupted between two men in her apartment. One of the alleged shooters is an unidentified man who fled the scene prior to police arriving. Darrell Odom, 33, was inside the apartment with Young and exchanged gunfire with the unidentified man. Odom was shot in the hip in the exchange.

When police arrived Odom was outside, standing by his vehicle, with an open wound in his hip. He was transported to University Hospitals for treatment, police say. He was later arrested by police for his suspected role in the death of Young.

Officers then entered the apartment where they found Young with two gunshot wounds. She was rushed to University Hospitals where she was eventually pronounced dead.

Officers recovered one handgun at the scene.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
