Here are the top three stories today in Cleveland:
- The rate of poverty in East Cleveland is 42.6 percent, the third-highest rate across Ohio cities. Living in poverty is defined as an annual income of no more than $27,479 for a family of four (two adults and two children). Visit cleveland.com for statistics on child poverty and overall poverty in all 246 Ohio cities. (cleveland.com)
- Fashion designer Christian Siriano, whose designs have been worn by the likes of Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga, will be leading a room redesign project at the Inn of Chagrin. The Project Runway winner's vision for the project is to celebrate the history of the inn, located in Cleveland's Chagrin Falls suburb while adding a fresh and modern twist. According to Molly Gebler, managing partner of the Inn of Chagrin, Siriano was sold on the project after discovering the history and charm of the property. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)
- A shipping container yard between Tremont and Cleveland's Central neighborhood could be the site of a new Cuyahoga County jail. The area is reportedly the preferred site for the estimated $550 million project, "provided it can be obtained on commercially reasonable terms." The other site being considered is the Cuyahoga Valley Industrial Center, located in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood. (cleveland.com)
