49-Year-Old Killed In Car Accident In Cleveland

Police say the man was speeding, blew past a red light and hit a semi-truck. The man's car was then lodged beneath the truck.

CLEVELAND, OH — A 49-year-old Cleveland man was killed in a car accident on Saturday afternoon. Police said the man was speeding on the city's east side.

Leroy Miller, the killed 49-year-old, was driving on E. 105th St. in a Hyundai Santa Fe. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said Miller was driving "well in excess" of the 35 mph speed limit. He didn't know a semi-truck was making a turn ahead of him.

The accident happened near the Chester Avenue intersection. That's when a 35-year-old man got a green light and turned his 2018 Freightliner Semi-Truck into a left turn, from the westbound lane of Chester, into the north lane of E. 105th.

Miller didn't stop at a redlight at the intersection. The front of his 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe hit the left side of the trailer and got lodged underneath it. Miller was fatally injured because of the accident.
