925 Without Power In Cleveland Tuesday Night

High winds and inclement weather have left many in the city and surrounding suburbs without electricity.

CLEVELAND — More than 925 FirstEnergy customers are without power Tuesday night. The company said inclement weather has left many in Cuyahoga County in the dark. At one point on Tuesday evening, more than 5,900 people were powerless.

The majority of the outages were concentrated in Cleveland and Garfield Heights. Other suburbs throughout the county were experiencing outages of their own, but to a lesser degree.

At about 9:30 p.m., storms started to kick-up on the east side of Cleveland. High winds are expected throughout the night and thunderstorms are a possibility. The rain and winds could continue through Wednesday morning, but should subside by 11 a.m.

There's a small risk of severe thunderstorms on Tuesday night and damaging wind gusts. There is also a slim possibility for an isolated tornado.

"Thunderstorms may produce locally heavy rain, which may result in ponding of water and cause rapid increases in small streams and creeks," the National Weather Service said in its hazardous weather outlook.
