5 Cleveland SWAT Officers Hurt In Car Accident
One of the officers is confined at MetroHealth Medical Center after the accident, police said.
CLEVELAND — Five Cleveland SWAT officers were hurt in a car accident on early Friday.
At 3:20 a.m., a man barricaded himself in a house on Lexington Avenue. SWAT officers were asked to go to the scene.
While en route, on St. Clair Avenue, the SWAT van was hit by a Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta missed a flashing red signal and hit the van, Cleveland police said.

After being hit by the Fiesta, the SWAT van hit a pole. Five SWAT officers were seriously hurt and one remains confined at MetroHealth Medical Center, a police spokesperson said.
The driver of the Fiesta was identified by police as Antonio Brown, 38. He was taken into custody after the accident. He is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident and taking off his vehicle's temporary tag.

Police said alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation.
