5 Inches Of Snow Could Fall Wednesday, Thursday In Northeast Ohio

Snowfall will start Wednesday night in Northeast Ohio and continue throughout Thursday,

CLEVELAND — Don't get too used to the rain. Forecasts show 5 inches of snow could hit Northeast Ohio on Wednesday night and Thursday.

When temperatures drop into the low 30s on Wednesday night, rain will turn to sleet and then snow. Up to 3 inches of snow could fall before drivers hit the road for the morning commute on Thursday morning.

Light snowfall could continue throughout Thursday, though only about 1 inch of snow and sleet should accumulate during the day. Another inch of snow could on Thursday evening, as temperatures plummet into the teens.

In a hazardous weather outlook, the National Weather Service said, "Low pressure moves northeast across the Ohio Valley Wednesday night, which may produce moderate accumulating snow and possibly mixed precipitation across the area Wednesday night into Thursday."

The hazardous weather outlook was issued for the following counties: Cuyahoga, Lorain, Erie, Lake, Geauga, Lucas, Ottawa, Huron, Wood, Summit, Portage and Trumbull.

There's currently a 30-percent chance of snow showers on Friday, the National Weather Service said. However, by Friday night the winter weather should have abated and Northeast Ohioans should have clear skies and cold temperatures throughout the weekend.
