50-Year-Old Killed In West Side Cleveland Shooting

The man was shot in the chest and killed at a business on Berea Road.

CLEVELAND, OH —A 53-year-old man was shot to death in Cleveland on Friday morning. Police say the shooting took place at a business on Berea Road, not far from the Lakewood border. The victim and the man accused of shooting him are reportedly coworkers.

The victim, Donald Vanhorn III, was shot to death at BTU Comfort Solution, 10225 Berea Road. Vanhorn had a gunshot wound in his chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene when police arrived.

Police have arrested 50-year-old Dennis Perrien.

Vanhorn was reportedly the owner of the business. Perrien was a friend of the 53-year-old and an occasional employee, according to Cleveland Police.

Both men were inside the building. Initial evidence suggests Vanhorn may have pulled out a knife and then Perrien shot him.

Perrien was on-scene when police arrived. He was taken into custody without incident.

Members of the Homicide Unit, along with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Officer, were called to the scene. The incident is still being investigated.
