Ambulance Hit By Car In Cleveland, Firefighters Involved In Crash
An ambulance rushing a gunshot victim to the hospital was hit by a car at a Cleveland intersection on Saturday.
CLEVELAND — Just after midnight on Saturday, an ambulance was hit by a car as it passed through an intersection in Cleveland. A firefighter and two medics were inside the ambulance, caring for a person who had been shot.
At 12:15 a.m., Cleveland EMS was rushing a person to University Hospital after they had been shot. Due to the perilous nature of the person's condition, a Cleveland firefighter was driving the ambulance and two medics were in the back, treating the gunshot victim.
The ambulance was going south on E. 152nd Street, with its emergency siren and lights on. As the ambulance went through the intersection at Woodworth Avenue, a 2016 Kia Sorento slammed into the left side of the ambulance.

The ambulance spun left, nearly tipped over, hit the side of a nearby Honda CR-V, and then struck a wooden utility pole.
A Cleveland police spokesperson told Patch the firefighter and medics suffered only minor injuries in the crash. However, the gunshot victim later died at the hospital, according to Fox 8.

A Cleveland police spokesperson did say additional information on the shooting, which prompted the ambulance's rush to University Hospital, would be released at a later time.
