Cleveland says it will cost $245 million to repair, renovate and replace aging fire stations (news5cleveland.com) — Cleveland officials say it will take $245 million to repair, renovate, or replace aging fire stations across the city, including troubled Station 23 on the West Side. The plan would fix leaky roofs, HVAC and plumbing, renovate a dozen stations, and move several standalone EMS units into firehouses, aiming to give firefighters safer, healthier working conditions.
2. USA Boxing National Open brings Olympic-style action to downtown Cleveland (photos) (cleveland.com) — Downtown Cleveland is hosting more than 600 amateur boxers this week at the USA Boxing National Open inside Public Auditorium, with daily sessions running through Saturday afternoon. 3. 'Operation Clean House' Sees Success in Enforcement Operation in Cleveland (crweworld.com) — Federal and local officers just wrapped up a two-week "Operation Clean House" sweep in the Cleveland area, arresting 75 people, including 68 fugitives using HUD housing assistance. 4. Shaker Heights addresses concerns as Amazon delivery drones fly overhead (wkyc.com) — Shaker Heights residents are seeing Amazon Prime Air drones overhead as the company's new Greater Cleveland delivery program launches from its North Randall fulfillment center. City officials are fielding concerns about privacy, noise, and safety while Amazon stresses quick delivery, limited payloads, and claims of minimal surveillance. Locals share mixed reactions, balancing convenience with worries about theft and drone presence.
5. Woman throws herself from car while on freeway: Beachwood Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Several recent Beachwood police calls involved Cleveland residents at Beachwood Place mall, including a juvenile shoplifting case, a theft arrest, and a man with a gun who was ultimately banned from the property.
