Applebee's Fundraiser To Benefit Family Of Slain Cleveland Police Officer
The restaurant chain will donate 15 percent of every bill at participating restaurants to a fund benefiting Officer David Fahey's family.

CLEVELAND, OH - Next week, on Feb. 22, the restaurant chain Applebee's will host a series of fundraisers for the family fallen Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey. Fifteen percent of participating diners' bills will be donated to the family.
Three Applebee's locations will participate in the fundraiser, including the locations at Brooklyn, Westgate, Great Northern, and the Steelyard Commons (addresses at the bottom of this article). To participate, you just have to let your server know that you'd like to have a portion of your bill go to Fahey's family. You can also participate via Carside To Go orders.
“Police officers give so much to keep our neighborhoods safe. As Applebee’s is the neighborhood grill and bar, we see and value the difference they make in the communities we serve every day and hope that through this fundraiser we can make a difference in the lives of Officer Fahey’s family members during this difficult time," said Jeff Lingel, Applebee's director of operations, in an email to Patch.

Patrol Officer David Fahey died on Jan. 24. He was killed in the line of duty, trying to protect motorists on I-90 after a car accident disrupted morning traffic. While setting up road flares, police say, Israel Alvarez allegedly struck and killed Fahey and then drove off. Alvarez was later arrested. Fahey was 39.
Fahey was a local boy. He attended St. Edward's High School in Lakewood and graduated in 1995. He went on to serve in the US Navy. He joined the Cleveland Police Department two and a half years ago, in July 2014. He was assigned to the city's first district, on the West Side.
