Here are the top three stories in Cleveland today:
- Sen. Sandra Williams has applied to be appointed to the vacant Ohio seat representing Cleveland and Garfield Heights. Williams is it Cleveland Democrat who is unable to run for re-election due to limit terms. The other applicants are Darnell Brewer, Shayla Davis, Michael Seals, and Chad Stephens. (cleveland.com)
- Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving was fined $25,000 on Thursday by the NBA for obscene language directed at a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. Irving responded to a comment from a fan with profanity, claiming they are ungrateful for the championship he delivered to them with LeBron James in 2016. Irving is currently at the center of controversy for not being vaccinated and only being able to play in Nets away games. (cleveland.com)
- Unemployment is up in both Cleveland and Ohio as three companies announce massive layoffs. Curation Foods, DHL Supply Chain, and Ross Casting & Innovation all files paperwork warning of impending mass layoffs within their company.
