Armed Robber Wanted More Than Cash From Cleveland Drugstore

Cleveland Police have released video footage of the incident. They're asking the public for help identifying the suspect.

CLEVELAND, OH — An armed robber wanted more than just cash when she held up a Rite Aid on Superior Avenue last month. The suspect also demanded staff give her cigarettes, a pack of Newport 100s, and a bag to carry everything.

At about 9:30 p.m. on April 21, a woman walked into the Rite Aid at 5471 Superior Avenue. She found a bottle of iced tea and brought it to the counter. Nothing unusual there.

But when the clerk went to ring the item up, the woman dug into her purse and pulled out a black handgun. "Give me the money!" she allegedly screamed. The clerk handed over approximately $200.

That didn't satisfy the robber though. The suspect then screamed, "Give me some cigarettes too!" She wanted the Newport 100s, which the clerk handed over. Still, the robbery wasn't over.

The robber must have realized she now had $200 in bills, an iced tea and a pack of cigarettes, which is a lot to carry. So she screamed again, "Give me a bag too!"

The clerk handed everything over and the woman fled the store.

What the suspect didn't realize is she was on camera. Now police have released video footage of the incident and are asking the public for help finding this armed robber.

The suspect is a black woman, between 20 and 30 years old. She was about five feet seven inches tall, and weighed about 130 pounds. After leaving the store, video footage captured the woman walking across the Rite Aid parking lot and getting into a car. Police said there is not currently a description of the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Cleveland Police at 216-623-5318.
