Beaches Hazardous To Swimmers In Northeast Ohio, Agency Warns
The National Weather Service is warning beach goers that weather conditions have made swimming in Lake Erie dangerous.

CLEVELAND, OH — Lake Erie beaches are hazardous for swimmers on Monday, the National Weather Service said. The agency issued a Beach Hazards statement that will remain in effect until 9 p.m. on Monday.
"A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when swimming risks exist from a combination of wind and large waves including rip currents and longshore currents. These swimming risks can create life-threatening conditions even for good swimmers. Follow the instruction of local authorities or stay out of the water," the National Weather Service said.
Winds are expected to hit about 15 mph today. That will contribute to dangerous waves and currents.

The Beach Hazards statement is in effect for beaches in Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties. Parts of Erie, Pennsylvania are also under a Beach Hazards statement.
The weather should start to gradually improve by Tuesday, though winds are still expected to hit highs of 15 mph. By Wednesday, Northeast Ohio weather should have calmed considerably, with a small chance of rain and much calmer winds.
