CLEVELAND — Ohio is a rough state to be a fan of professional football, according to a new study. Both Cincinnati and Cleveland ranked among the worst cities for fans of the sport, likely due to the long-term struggles of both franchises (and the glaring lack of Super Bowl victories).

To add insult to injury, Pittsburgh ranked as the best city to be a professional football fan. Which makes us hate the Steelers just a little bit more.

The personal finance website WalletHub recently released its “2020’s Best & Worst Cities For Football Fans.” The list looked ranked 30 cities for how avid and rewarded their fanbases are.

Here are some other highlights from the report.

The worst city for football fans in the nation? That uninspiring honor went to Brookville, New York. The bottom five were rounded out by Valparaiso, Indiana, Providence, Rhode Island, Davidson, North Carolina, and Ithaca, New York.

Buffalo, New York, finished as the city with the lowest average ticket price for an NFL game in the country. New York City edged out Los Angeles for the city with the least-engaged NFL fans in the nation.

The ranking compared more than 240 U.S. cities with at least one college or professional football team across 21 key metrics of fan friendliness, including average ticket price, number of NFL championships and college football fan engagement.

Each relevant metric was then listed with its corresponding weight, and the cities were graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the best possible city for a football fan.
