Betts will open Thursday, August 6, on the ground floor of The Kimpton Schofield Hotel, at East Ninth Street and Euclid Avenue. It assumes the prime space previously occupied by Parker’s.

The space is cozy yet cool and feels like a mix between a restaurant and a home, with prime views of downtown, a thoughtfully bespoke interior and distinctive craftsmanship details throughout. A custom penny tile wall, where coffee and cocktails are served to go, welcomes guests when they enter. The back area of the restaurant allows for regular dining as well as flexibility to be closed off for private dining or meetings. The space itself feels inviting, welcoming and warm – a place to settle into where you can unwind comfortably and casually while feeling right at home.

Betts will offer something for everyone – at all times of the day. It will be open for indoor and patio dining for lunch and dinner, weekday breakfast and Saturday and Sunday brunch – featuring elevated, health-conscious fare that caters to all diets, including vegan, gluten-free, keto, dairy-free and vegetarian.

In addition, a 24/7 grab & go menu is available for both hotel guests and passersby for that quick breakfast, lunch on the go or a snack any time of day, including late nights.

The menu, executed by Executive Chef Rob Stauch, focuses on bridging the balance between flavorful whole food dishes and indulgent favorites. From meat to produce, Betts offers a predominance of healthful options that are prepared from locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible.

“Betts will offer not only a thoughtful approach to dining but personal dining options as well,” said Chef Rob. “It’s easy for people to eat healthy here, but if you want a burger we have that, too.”

In creating the innovative menu, Chef Rob collaborated with Chef Terry Bell – otherwise known as “Chef T,” who serves as the restaurant’s culinary advisor and is also the official team chef for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The beverage program will offer a selection of seasonal cocktails using house-made syrups and shrubs. “Our summer cocktails will feature everything from a keto friendly margarita to a rotating summer punch,” said Jason Reiss, general manager. A line of local cold-pressed juice from Anna in the Raw is offered for on-the-go or to enjoy at your table. A broad range of wines by the glass, seven local beers on draft and nitro coffee from La Colombe are all part of the varied offerings.

“Our goal is to have something for everyone,” Reiss added. “We have created an environment for our guests to dine, have drinks with friends or enjoy solitude.”

“Betts” is a tribute to Elizabeth Schofield (1845-1914), who was regarded as a pillar of progress and inclusivity in Cleveland, serving as president of the YWCA and the first president of the board of the Phillis Wheatley Association. Her husband, Captain Levi Schofield, was a Civil War officer and later a prominent architect whose designs included Cleveland’s Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument and the 14-story Schofield Building. The Victorian-style brick and terra-cotta structure underwent historic preservation during the past decade to house The Kimpton Schofield Hotel, The Schofield Residences – and now, Betts Restaurant.

About Betts
Betts is your good morning meal, your afternoon staple, your place to dine for dinner, drinks and lingering a while. It’s where you go to meet friends, make friends or steal a moment all to yourself. Centered around classic American dishes with an emphasis on freshness, quality and healthy whole foods, Betts is your go-to in the neighborhood.

The goal is simple: Create a menu featuring thoughtfully sourced ingredients; mix with a creative approach to a healthy lifestyle; add a dash of much deserved indulgence; and pepper with genuine hospitality. The result? An entirely new approach to dining in downtown Cleveland.

We believe the foundation of any home begins with good people, better food and the best of times. The Schofield home was anchored by its heart and matriarch, Elizabeth “Betsy” Schofield, wife of Captain Levi Schofield and our namesake. A pillar of progress and inclusivity in Cleveland and beloved mother of two, she was a gracious and welcoming host to friends, family and strangers alike. Those closest to her knew her best as Betts.
