Browns CB Terrance Mitchell Could Be Done For Year

Mitchell has been one of the best players on Cleveland's defense — and a broken forearm could knock him out the rest of the season.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns cornerback Terrance Mitchell could be out the rest of the year, the team announced on Monday. Mitchell broke his forearm in Sunday's 45-42 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Mitchell was hurt during the first half. He was carted off the field, which is never a good sign.

After signing with the Browns in the offseason, Mitchell had emerged as a strong defender in the team's secondary. Through four games, Mitchell has one interception, three pass deflections, and 19 tackles. He also forced two fumbles this season.

Mitchell's departure will leave a veteran void in the secondary. Denzel Ward, T.J. Carrie, and E.J. Gaines will be expected to step up in Mitchell's absence. They'll get their first taste of life without Mitchell on Sunday, when Cleveland takes on the Baltimore Ravens. That game will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium at 1 p.m.
