Buggy-Car Crash Sends 7 To Hospital, 2 Children Life-Flighted
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a car smashed into the back of a horse-drawn buggy on Sunday night, ejecting a family from the carriage.

SULLIVAN TOWNSHIP, OH — A crash between a horse-drawn buggy and a car sent seven people to the hospital, including three people being flown via helicopter with serious injuries. The driver of the car has been arrested for driving impaired, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night in Ashland County. An Amish family, with two parents and five kids, were riding in a buggy on US Route 224. A 47-year-old from West Salem was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus and going east on the same road, the OHSP said.
The Taurus collided with the back of the carriage, ejecting all seven members of the family from the buggy. All seven family members suffered various injuries. The driver of the Taurus was not hurt, WEWS reported.

Two of the family's children were flown to Akron Children's Hospital in serious condition. The father, who was driving the buggy, was taken to Lodi Hospital and then flown to Akron General Hospital. He was in serious condition, WEWS said.
The other family members were taken to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland for treatment.
